Our Nursery

Maxholme Nursery School is based within the unique and spacious setting at Brookwood Villa, 166 Drymen Road. The nursery is easily accessible by car, train (Bearsden or Hillfoot station) and several bus routes, as well as easy walking distance to Bearsden Primary School.

Our unique woodland outdoor play area allows children to learn through

exploring the natural world

We believe that the outdoors offer huge potential for early years learning, which is why our woodland garden is such an important part of Maxholme. Not only does time outdoors build confidence, independence and self-esteem in nursery-age children, it is the perfect setting for active learning in a fun and enjoyable way.

Our children have regular access to our woodland garden throughout the day, where they can participate in a range of structured and child-led activities — from scouting for conkers and beasties, to den making and crafts.

Indoors, our spacious and flexible space is perfect for imaginative play

We have a wide range different activities set up on a daily basis, which are carefully planned to cater for the needs and interests of our children and to encourage their creativity, inquisitiveness and independence. Activities include physical play, imaginative play, art and crafts, baking, writing, and science and technology.

Children at Maxholme Nursery also benefit from visiting specialists who deliver music, science and sports activities, including the popular “Crazy Callum” from Sports Squad and Claire our Spanish lady.
